International Expert in water and sustainable agriculture
Has more than 30 years of experience in the field of agriculture and water resources management in support to food security and sustainable development. Excellent analytical and strategic skills, backed by field experience from policy and technical assistance projects in the Mediterranean, Central Asian, Sub-Saharan African and Asian countries for the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Academic background: Agricultural engineering, agronomy, water resources administration.
Fields of expertise: sustainable development and related international processes, agriculture, cross-sectoral coordination mechanisms, land and water governance and institutions, climate change adaptation, water/irrigation technologies and management, water policies and strategies.
Managerial experience as Regional Programme Leader for FAO in the Near East and North Africa Region, supervising about 60 staff from the Regional Office.
Most recent work focused on: strategic planning and foresights, contribution to global perspective studies on trends analysis and future development pathways in agriculture and rural development, and development of theories of change in support to institutional planning.
