Empowering Women in Egypt’s Livestock and Dairy Subsectors
- A Gender-Transformative Approach to Climate Resilience and Economic Inclusion

OBJECTIVES

Why This Project Mattered ?

Climate change disproportionately affects women, particularly in rural and agricultural communities. This project directly addressed this challenge by placing gender equality at the heart of climate action. By focusing on the economic and household-level impacts on women in Egypt’s dairy and livestock value chains, our goal was to dismantle barriers to their participation and create clear pathways for them to assume leadership roles. This approach not only fosters social equity but also builds stronger, more resilient food systems for all.

“This partnership marked a pivotal moment for climate action in Egypt,” said Dr. Mohamed Abdel Monem, Senior Advisor for Climate Change and Rural Development, and CEO of CVC. “We didn’t just conduct a study; we created a blueprint for a more inclusive and sustainable agricultural future. Empowering women is essential for building resilient communities that can thrive in the face of climate change.”
